Landowner Partnerships

In the Shadow Lake community, SHADOW works with local landowners to develop stewardship plans. These plans will help the landowners to maximize the benefit of their property as well as protect the environment important the bog.

Ongoing Projects

Presently, SHADOW's primary focus is acquiring lands adjacent to our current properties. Our acquisition strategy is to actively pursue the purchase of peat bog, wetland and/or forested properties adjacent to the more than 95 acres already protected by SHADOW. These properties would greatly add to our core of protected land, creating stronger wildlife corridors and protecting more land for future generations. These lands are in pristine condition and provides excellent habitat for both flora and fauna.

At the same time, SHADOW pursues activities to heighten awareness of the bog and the ecological issues surrounding it. These activities include educational tours, presentations to local organizations, making the interpretive center available to groups for presentations and meetings, and an annual celebration, the Frog Frolic. Another of SHADOW’s projects revolves around restoring and maintaining the land already under protection.
