SHADOW is always in need of enthusiastic individuals interested in helping us preserve this beautiful ancient peat bog. Help us out through one of the positions listed below, or submit your own ideas for how you’d like to help out.

Volunteer Opportunities

If you are member of a mycological society, outdoors club, birding association or any kind of network, or would like to organize a company/group outing, we would love to organize a field trip and/or volunteer day tailored towards your particular group. The following is a brief list of some of the work needed at SHADOW this summer 2009.

Build a bench

  • We are looking for one/several carpenters that would like to reinforce the deteriorating bench by the amphibian pond

Create signs

Paint the existing Shadow Lake Bog sign, create “Parking” and “education center” signs, and perhaps another for the upper half of the property. Some wood working or studio art skills are required.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Work with the Project & Outreach Coordinator, board members and local water quality experts to design and implement water quality research. We will provide all the equipment necessary.
