A group of volunteers is conducting an ongoing weekly survey of the macrofungi (mushrooms and their relatives) at Shadow Lake Bog.

As of July 2006, 246 species had been authoritatively identified at the bog.

We are endeavoring to build a set of resources that will be useful to the mycological community interested in the wetland macrofungi.

On December 14, 2000, SHADOW was formed as a 501(c)(3)organization 
to preserve the unique peat bog and habitat surrounding the west and southwest sides of Shadow Lake.
